After approving the request made by a prosecutor belonging to the so-called Unidad de Reacción Inmediata (Immediate Reaction Unit in spanish) in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, a judge imposed a preventive detention measure on three men, alleged perpetrators of a double homicide that took place on August 24 in Los Alpes neighborhood of this city.

The defendants are Kevin Andrés Leal Pérez, 21; Jesús Eduardo Díaz Peñaranda, 24, and Andrés Silva Guerrero, 25, who were charged with homicide, manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition and; manufacture, trafficking and possession of weapons, ammunition for restricted use, for the exclusive use of the armed forces or explosives, all with aggravating circumstances.

The investigations show that the defendants arrived at a house where a woman and a man, both 28 years old, were present and defenseless, and the defendants shot them several times, causing their death.

The defendants were arrested by the National Police. Three pistols, a fragmentation grenade, 9-millimeter ammunition and four cell phones were seized from them. The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges, and a judge ordered sent them to the so-called Modelo Prison in Cúcuta.
