A specialized prosecutor in Casanare charged Julián Darío Laverde López and Jonathan Alexis Cabiche Barragán before a judge. They are allegedly responsible for the crimes of terrorism, aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal possession of firearms and qualified theft. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
The facts took place on November 7, 2023 in Yopal and Aguazul (Casanare). The defendants allegedly boarded a vehicle assigned to an interdepartmental transportation company and, it is believed, they intimidated the driver with weapons, forced the passengers to get off and after identifying themselves as members of the so-called ‘Segunda Marquetalia’, they set fire to the car.
The defendants were notified about this new process while being in detention centers since November 17, 2023. The arrest occurred while they were receiving a sum of money that would be linked to extortion. The arrest took place in the municipality of Trinidad (Casanare).
