Prosecutors from the Special Group for the Fight Against Animal Abuse (Grupo Especial para la Lucha Contra el Maltrato Animal Gelma) achieved the prosecution of two men who allegedly attacked two dogs with firearms, in isolated facts that occurred in Huila and Cundinamarca.

Attack against ‘Toby’

On January 12, Wilmer Anacona Bravo allegedly shot a dog named ‘Toby’, causing serious injuries. Facts took place in rural area El Mesón, in Pitalito (Huila).

According to the investigation, the man apparently attacked the dog because he entered his home. ‘Toby’ was taken to a veterinary, where they managed to save its life.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged Anacona Bravo with manufacturing, trafficking, possession of a firearm, accessories, parts or ammunition, and animal abuse.

Attack against ‘Consul’

A prosecutor from Gelma presented Wilson Javier Sánchez Barreto before a judge, for his alleged responsibility in the attack with a firearm against a dog named ‘Consul’, on a farm in the Chatasuga rural area of Choachí (Cundinamarca), on August 20, 2023.

The investigation proved that Sánchez Barreto allegedly shot the dog on at least three occasions, and then was taken to the veterinary and underwent a surgery.

Sánchez Barreto was charged with animal abuse.
