The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge to sentence Jonathan David Montes to 31 years and 3 months in prison for aggravated femicide.

According to the investigation, the facts took place on June 25, 2023 in a home located in Bucaramanga (Santander), in which her sentimental partner, 21 years old, was found dead and with signs of violence.

According to the medical opinion of the Institute of Legal Medicine, the woman, a native of La Jagua de Ibirico, (Cesar), died due to suffocation through manual strangulation.

The defendant fled the scene and was arrested on March 5 in Sincelejo (Sucre).

The convicted man came to a preliminary agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office in which he accepted his responsibility for the crime and will serve his sentence in Palogordo de Girón Prison (Santander), where he remains deprived of his liberty since his arrest.
