The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Denis Stefanía Pérez Sánchez for alleged responsibility in extortions from a prison located in the main city of the country.

The woman would be a member of an illegal structure involved in deceiving citizens in Boyacá whom she contacted to offer services that she never provided, but she asked for payments of money in exchange for not attacking the victims.

The most recent case was reported on February 4 in Sotaquirá (Boyacá) where a man was contacted by phone in order to offer a transportation service for a person from the rural area La Leonera.

During the journey, the victim received another call from an alleged member of a guerrilla who told him that he had entered a prohibited territory and therefore he asked a payment of a millionaire amount in exchange for no attempting against his life. The money had to be sent through an application in the name of Denis Stefanía Pérez Sánchez.

The woman is currently in a prison facility serving a sentence for another crime. The Prosecutor’s Office charged her with extortion.
