The suspect had an arrest warrant indicating that he belonged to a criminal organization in which several homicides were ordered in Corozal, Betulia, Sincé and Galeras, among other municipalities of Sucre.
Investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office allowed Éder Fernando Severiche Mercado to be prosecuted for aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime for homicide purposes.
The accused, 26 years old, would be involved in a homicide that occurred in September of the previous year in the municipalities of Corozal, Betulia, Sincé, Galeras, Los Palmitos, San Pedro and Buenavista (Sucre), where he was allegedly a hitman.
In order to support the accusation before a judge in Sincelejo, the prosecutor’s office had statements, interviews, wire tappings and photographs that demonstrate his criminal participation in the so-called Clan del Golfo, apparently also involved in acts of extortion.
Severiche Mercado was arrested by virtue of a court order on October 3 in the La Esmeralda neighborhood in Sincé (Sucre), by Sijín- National Police officers.
Although he did not plead guilty to the charges, a prison sentence was imposed.
