The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, stressed that the 378 cases of sexual violence against members of the indigenous communities of Guaviare that occurred between 2018 and 2020, which are registered in the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), will be verified.

“We are going to cross-check our data with the SPOA and verify if these ICBF folders were each transferred to the Office of the Attorney General because otherwise, if there is information gap, we would initiate criminal proceedings for omission against the respective public servants” , explained Attorney General Barbosa Delgado.

A special commission will continue in the department to find out the current status of these events in order to be clear about the actions of the different authorities.

In this sense, Attorney General Barbosa stated that judicial activities of prosecutors and investigators that deal with this type of crime will be strengthened in San José del Guaviare, and there will be a coordinated work with legal Medicine and rural doctors to guarantee care and assessment of the victims.

This specialized team will prioritize sexual crimes and other serious cases of violation of rights against women, children and adolescents. Likewise, he revealed that a strategy to prioritize investigations for damages against the integrity and sexual formation of indigenous children, adolescents, and women is being developed.
