The Attorney General´s Office dealt a hard blow to the criminal organization ‘Tren de Aragua’ and advances in the clarification of collective homicide in Norte de Santander

Five alleged members of this group were brought before a judge as the alleged ones responsible for the murder of four people in Cúcuta.

The itinerant work carried out by the Attorney General’s Office and the union of capacities with  DIJIN of the National Police made it possible to impact the ‘AK-47’ criminal structure, one of the components of the ‘Tren de Aragua’ involved in hiring hitmen and the sale of drugs; and also advance in the clarification of the murder of four people, which occurred on August 27, in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood of Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).

The evidence made it possible to identify and arrest alias El Gordo, who would have been part of the group of armed men who arrived on motorcycles and taxis at the scene of the attack and fired indiscriminately at the victims who were gathered on public roads.

Alias ​​El Gordo was brought before a judge, along with four other Venezuelan citizens that were arrested in flagrante delicto and prosecuted in previous days for drug trafficking and other criminal behavior.

These five alleged members of ‘AK-47 – Tren de Aragua’ would be involved in the collective murder in Pueblo Nuevo. In this sense, an itinerant prosecutor from the Delegate Office for Territorial Security charged them with aggravated homicide, as they were defenseless victims; and aggravated manufacture, trafficking, or possession of firearms. All the defendants were sent to prison

The investigation revealed two other alleged perpetrators of the collective crime. They are Jhoswar Saúl Hernández Sanabria, alias La S; and Luis Felipe Colmenares Mojica, alias Pipe, against whom arrest warrants and INTERPOL blue notices were issued given the evidence that they fled to another country.

In 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office clarified 65.2% of the cases of collective homicides.
