Among the outstanding cases is the prosecution of Dixon Denzel Manuel Watson, alias Pago, allegedly responsible for the death of singer Fabián Eugenio Pérez Hooker, known as Hety
The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, accompanied by the Deputy Attorney General, Martha Mancera; the Delegate for Territorial Security, Luisa Obando; and the sectional director of San Andrés, Tatiana Angulo Meléndez, announced important results in terms of the fight against crimes that affect the tranquility of the residents of the island.
During his visit to this part of the national territory, the Attorney General highlighted important results concerning the clarification of crimes such as homicide and domestic violence. In addition, he highlighted the work that has allowed various criminal structures to be dismantled.
The Attorney General also referred to the prosecution of Dixon Denzel Manuel Watson, alias Pago, allegedly responsible for the murder of singer Fabián Eugenio Pérez Hooker, known as Hety, who died on March 13 after being shot.
The attack occurred in the so-called Mission Hill sector when the victim was spending time with Hillbor Allen Pusey Rodríguez, alias Fito Pusey; and Minerva Venecia Hooker James. The artist died in a hospital. The other two people were injured.
The testimonial evidence, photographs and technical inspections at the scene of the facts allowed the identification of alias Pago as the person who, apparently, was driving the motorcycle when the attack against Hety and his companions were carried out.
For these facts, members of the Technical Investigative Corps (Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación CTI) of the Prosecutor’s Office arrested the defendant Sarie Bay neighborhood. The Prosecutor’s Office charged Manuel Watson with homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, and aggravated manufacture, trafficking, and possession of a firearm, accessories, parts, or ammunition and injuries.
Manuel Watson did not plead guilty to the charges. He must serve a prison term in prison Nueva Esperanza.
The Attorney General pointed out “in the year 2021 we closed with 77 percent of clarification of the homicides that occurred on the island. Today we have a 50 percent of reduction of homicides compared to the previous year”.
Results concerning domestic violence and criminal structures
About domestic violence, in 2022 the Prosecutor’s Office reported a clarification rate of 86 percent. In this way, the Prosecutor’s Office guarantees the rights of all citizens in the territories.
Likewise, between 2021 and 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office dismantled five criminal structures, four of them were involved in drug trafficking, and one committed extortion. As a result of these actions, 31 people were charged with different crimes; 27 of them received security measures; which represents effectiveness of 96%.
The institution also dealt a hard blow against a gang called VIP, which was involved in selling narcotics in small quantities among tourists and residents.
Among the detainees are Carlos Freite González, Moisés Ricardo Ramírez Marín and Sebastián Gómez, who were arrested in home searches carried out downtown the city. The evidence shows that the illegal network used a motorcycle wash place as a façade.
The defendants did not plead guilty to the crimes of drug trafficking, manufacture or possession, and conspiracy to commit a crime. At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, the judge sent the defendants to a prison in San Andrés.
