The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, together with the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, presented a conclusive result in the department of Risaralda. As a result of 23 home searches, members of the Technical Investigative Corps (Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación CTI), with the support of the Eighth Brigade of the National Army, arrested four alleged members of the San Judas criminal organization who are allegedly responsible for various criminal behaviors perpetrated in the San Judas Dosquebradas (Risaralda).
“This was a forbidden area for the security forces and for the authorities in Colombia. Today the inhabitants of Pereira, Dosquebradas in that Department, have great news and that is that institutions and the justice do not have forbidden areas”, stated the Attorney General.
The alleged ringleader Jhon Alexander Mejía Hurtado, alias Carevieja, Juan David Valencia Hurtado, Julio César Yovers Leañes and Luz Aleida Gaviria Aguirre were arrested.
Apparently, the people under investigation were in charge of the collection, dosage and sale of drugs, and other associated crimes that affected public safety in that area of the department.
During the home searches, which allowed these arrests, illicit substances such as 2c-b, cocaine, acids and marijuana; a large sum of cash and notes, apparently related to the sales of the drugs were seized. Likewise, there were found motorcycle parts with erased serials, a firearm and other items.
The people allegedly involved will be charged, according to their individual responsibilities, with trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics and illegal use of real state and personal property; counterfeiting of trademarks and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms or ammunition and receiving of stolen property. The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges.
Given the forcefulness of the arguments and evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office, a judge in Belén de Umbría (Risaralda) sent Juan David Valencia Hurtado, Luz Aleida Gaviria Aguirre and Jhon Alexander Mejía Hurtado to prison.
“It is a result of a joint work with our Army and within the framework of a recovery strategy to provide security and justice to the citizens of different regions of the country”, emphasized the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa.
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, highlighted: “this is another victory in regard to the recovery of hope and tranquility in the face of this scourge and threat that micro-trafficking represents for young people and for the institutions in that region of the country”.
The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
