The criminal gang known as Los Chuma is allegedly responsible for committing the murder of the leader and three other people in Campoalegre and Palermo (Huila). On the other hand, two men were prosecuted in Algeciras for the attack on an ex-combatant.
The investigation and prosecution strategy in serious damages against human rights defenders and people in process of reincorporation allowed the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI) to clarify the murder of the social leader Eduardo Alarcón Córdoba and the attempted murder of the ex-combatant Isidoro Gutiérrez Canacué, in facts that took place in Campoalegre and Algeciras (Huila), respectively.
In this sense, the Office of the Attorney General prosecuted the alleged perpetrators:
- Crime of the social leader Eduardo Alarcón Córdoba
Due to the death of the social leader Eduardo Alarcón Córdoba who was killed with a firearm on October 19, 2020, in a farm located in the rural settlement Las Vueltas in Campoalegre, the Office of the Attorney General obtained a prison sentence against three alleged members of the criminal structure Los Chuma, which is involved in hiring hitmen and the commercialization of drugs in that municipality.
The criminal gang Los Chuma was allegedly involved in hiring hitmen and the commercialization of drugs in Campoalegre (Huila).
The defendants Duván Alexánder Charry García, alias Chuma; James Daniel Barreiro Vega, aka James; and Yonatan Andrés Charry García, alias Chiqui; They were charged with aggravated murder with multiple concurrent crimes and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or aggravated ammunition.
Due to these facts, a minor, also an alleged member of the criminal group, was sent to a juvenile detention center by a supervisory judge at the request of a prosecutor appointed to the Office of Childhood and Adolescence in Neiva (Huila).
It is presumed that the defendants are also involved in the murder of Erick Mauricio Puentes which took place on December 9 in Palermo (Huila); and of Willintong Vargas and Hotman Andrés García, perpetrated in Campoalegre on September 7th and October 1th8, 2020, respectively.
