When we speak, results follow
In one of the results, the Office of the Attorney General obtained the arrest and prosecution one of the alleged perpetrators of the murder of the environmental leader in Sierra Nevada, Alejandro Llinás, which took place in April of this year.
An alleged member of the Gaor E-62 who would have participated in the displacement of a person in process of reincorporation in La Montañita (Caquetá).
The territorial approach defined by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado in the Strategic Direction 2020-2024 to effectively advance in the investigation and clarification of criminal acts against human rights defenders, people in the process of reincorporation and their families, allowed the Office of the Attorney General to obtain three important results in Magdalena, Caquetá and Cauca.
These results are possible thanks to the investigative work of the Special Itinerant Group, the Sectional Offices of the Office of the Attorney General, and the action coordinated with the National Police. The cases are:
- Prosecution related to the crime of an environmental leader in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
A detention measure with imprisonment was issued against Deinstin Orlando García Arévalo, alias El Negro or Comandante Yesid, by a supervisory judge in Planeta Rica (Córdoba) who approved the evidence presented by a prosecutor of the Sectional Office in Magdalena.
Investigations show that this person would be responsible for the murder of the environmental leader of Sierra Nevada, Alejandro Llinás, which took place on April 23 in Calabazo, rural area of Santa Marta (Magdalena).
The Office of the Attorney General charged García Arévalo with aggravated murder, aggravated criminal conspiracy, and illegal possession of firearms. This person was arrested in a joint action carried out by the CTI and the National Police, in Planeta Rica (Córdoba).
Alias el Negro or Comandante Yesid would be part of the criminal structure ‘Los Pachencas’, currently known as ‘Conquistadores de la Sierra’. As head of the hitmen, he allegedly ordered one of his men to assassinate the environmental leader.
For this crime, the Office of the Attorney General charged and prosecuted Adán Romero Pérez, alias El Grande or Chuky, and Alcides Antonio Moreno. Likewise, due to the death of the defendant, the investigation against the top leader of this organization, alias 80, who was killed in an operation by the public force, on June 16, 2020, precluded.
- Displacement of a person in process of reincorporation in Caquetá
A prosecutor of the Special Itinerant Group brought alias Grasoso, an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group (Gaor) E-62, before a supervisory judge, as the alleged responsible for intimidating and displacing a person in the process of reincorporation.
The facts took place on October 26, 2019 in rural area of Tailandia, Unión Peneya, in La Montañita (Caquetá).
Alias Grasoso will face charges for threats, forced displacement and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime.
- Conviction for an attack against a relative of person in process of reincorporation
By virtue of a preliminary agreement with the Office of the Attorney General, in which James Barona Avirama, alias el Zorro, accepted his responsibility in the crimes of attempted aggravated murder, and aggravated manufacture, trafficking, possession or firearms, the 1stCourt of Mixed Jurisdiction* of the Circuit of Caloto (Cauca) sentenced him to 9 years and 6 months in prison.
The Office Of the Attorney General proved that alias el Zorro, while being a member of Gaor Dagoberto Ramos operating in the north area of Cauca, participated in the attack against the relative of a former Farc member in process of reincorporation which was committed on September 17, 2019 in the rural area of López Adentro, El Palo, in Caloto (Cauca).
