With the support of the National Police, five people who would be involved in the crimes were arrested in the last hours. The specialized team appointed by the Attorney General carried out activities aimed at solving what happened in the case and, in record time, important results were obtained. 

The strategy defined by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, led to the arrest of five people in the last hours: two who allegedly participated in the crime of eight young people in Samaniego (Nariño) on August 15, and three other people, who would be linked to the murder of five citizens in the municipality of Jamundí (Valle) on October 9. 

After prioritizing the cases and appointing special human and technical teams, it was possible to clear up the multiple murders in Nariño and Valle del Cauca. 

In both cases, the team that was made up of CTI members  and the National Police, carried out special investigative activities. Among the activities, it should be highlighted the autopsy carried out by local doctors with the support of the National Institute of Legal Medicine, the inspection of the crime scene, the technical tests of ballistics and lophoscopy, interviews, wiretappings, selective searches in databases, sworn statements, neighborhoods visits, verbal description of perpetrator(s), portraits, victim profiling and report of the criminal context, among others. 

Samaniego case 

Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa, expressed his support to the families of Brayan Alexis Cuarán Rosero, Laurita Mishell Melo Riascos, Iván Darío Ibarra Andrade, Óscar Andrés Obando Betancourt, David Steven Vargas Jurado, John Sebastián Quintero Cortez, Daniel Estiven Vargas Jurado and Campo Elián Benavidez Erazo, victims of the armed attack that took place in a house in Samaniego where about 30 people were having a meeting. Men using long and short-range firearms attacked some of them, killing these eight young men whose ages ranged from 20 to 27 years. 

The Prosecutor announced the important result of the investigation that led to the identification and arrest of Andrés Fernando Moriano Caicedo, alias Fercho, and Yeiron Alexánder Pantoja Rodríguez in the municipality of Samaniego who in the next few hours will be brought before a supervisory judge as alleged perpetrators of the crime of murder, aggravated conspiracy and manufacture, trafficking and possession of weapons, ammunition, for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or explosives. 

Jamundí case 

Likewise, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa, announced the solving of the crime that took place in Jamundí (Valle del Cauca) where José Luis Campo Vainas, Mehyer Dahian Ramírez Ramírez, Édgar Hernández Campos and Eider Gutiérrez Corrales died. Facts took place on October 9, La Rosa farm, Meseta rural setlement, Comuneros sector of this municipality. 

In the last hours, it was possible to arrest Stiven Andrés Jaramillo Guazaquillo, alias El Chavo or Bairon; Héider Andrés Medina Grueso, alias Niño Malo; and Yilmer Andrés Dagua, alias el Indio accused of being linked to the multiple murder. 

The Special Investigation Unit together with the Branch Office in Cali, its CTI judicial police, Sijín Cali and the National Army, after making progress with  the investigation that allowed to solve the case in just 5 days and to carry out the arrests in 13 days, will bring the three people before a supervisory judge and will be charged with aggravated murder (in series or severally) with illegal possession of firearms for personal use and for private use of the Public Force, and conspiracy to commit a crime. 

The Attorney General pointed out that despite the fact that in less than three months there have been 11 actions in which 58 people have been killed in Norte de Santander, Cundinamarca, Cali, Arauca, Cauca, Nariño, Bolívar and Valle del Cauca, the entity’s work should be highlighted since “in all these cases, with a focused work and specialized teams, in less than two months we have solved the cases and today we report the arrest of 26 people who would be involved in these unfortunate crimes, 21 of them already prosecuted ”.
