After considering the evidence presented by the Office of the Attorney General, the 18th Criminal Court of the Circuit of Cali sentenced four people involved in the crime committed against prosecutor Alcibíades Libreros Varela who was murdered on December 29, 2019, in the south area of Cali .
Samuel Hernando Alvear Ramírez, the person who shot at the official and Yojan Salazar Martínez, the man who ‘chose’ the victim in a bakery, were sentenced to 26 years in prison. On the other hand, Edison Fajardo Angulo, the leader of a band of jewels thieves, and Álvaro Preciado Quiñonez, the person who drove the motorcycle used by the hitman, were sentenced to 27 years in prison.
This decision was based on the conclusive evidence provided by the Office of the Attorney General and it encouraged the defendants to negotiate a plea bargain.
According to the evidence, these four people were part of a criminal network that stole jewels and valuable objects in Cali. At first, it was found that for that purpose, they followed and intercepted the vehicle that prosecutor Libreros was using and finally, he was shot during the robbery.
