A total of 32 points were identified by the Office of the Attorney General in 18 rural settlements in Cauca where power cuts will be carried out. They are specifically directed to marijuana greenhouses which are stealing energy.
Within the framework of the disruptive policy to fight against drug trafficking, the Attorney General’s Office informed the Western Energy Company (in Spanish Compañía de Energía de Occidente (CEO)) about those specific areas in Cauca where marijuana greenhouses have been detected stealing electricity in this department located in the south part of the country.
It is evident that illegal organizations have illegally used electric power that was intended to meet residents’ needs and legal trade.
The illicit use of public services has benefited the aforementioned crops, since it allows illegal actors to accelerate the growth of the plants, generating greater income for the organization.
