He would be responsible for forcing the victim to leave his house, after which he was killed.

Brayan Esmit López, alias Guacho, was identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of the murder of community leader José Ricardo Calderón Núñez, on May 19, 2024, in the rural area of Tame (Arauca).

The investigation indicates that alias Guacho, alleged member of the 10th Front of FARC dissidents, received instructions to kill the victim, who served as treasurer of the Community Action Board of the rural area Las Nubes, since he allegedly provided information to authorities about the presence of an illegal armed group structure in the area.

On the day of the events, Brayan Esmit López and other armed men traveled in two trucks to the house of José Ricardo Calderón Núñez and forced him to get into one of the vehicles. During the journey, the victim was shot several times, causing his death. The leader’s corpse was found an hour later by his relatives on a road in the area.

For this reason, a prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI) brought him before a judge  and charged him with homicide, conspiracy to commit a crime, and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition, all aggravated offenses.

López did not plead guilty to the charges brought by the Prosecutor’s Office and must serve a sentence in prison.
