In a joint operation between the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI), the National Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Search Unit, he was arrested on a public street in Valledupar (Cesar) by virtue of an Interpol red notice.
Márquez Morales would be one of the leaders of ‘Los Caracas’, an armed structure of ‘Tren de Aragua’ criminal group and the main logistical and financial coordinator of this organization on the Colombian-Venezuelan border.
According to the arrest warrant issued by a court in Caracas, this man allegedly participated in an armed attack on a commercial establishment in the state of Zulia, in which several people were injured on February 18, 2023.
Márquez Morales is wanted for terrorism, criminal conspiracy, arms trafficking, and aggravated homicide.
The Directorate of International Affairs of the Attorney General’s Office will forward the respective communications so that Venezuela can formalize the extradition request.
