251 judicial police investigators from the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police are collecting evidence.
The Attorney General Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón; the director of the National Police, Major General Carlos Fernando Triana Beltrán; the delegate director for Territorial Security of the Attorney General’s Office, Deicy Jaramillo Rivera; The director of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI), Fabián Andrés Ordóñez Tacué, and the director of Dijín (National Investigation Unit), Colonel Hebert Mejía Castro, presented a preliminary report on the investigation into the attack on senator and the presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay.
A team of 251 judicial police officers from both the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police are working to collect and analyze evidence and testimonies to establish the circumstances of the attack, the individuals who participated in the crime, and the authors.
So far, ballistics tests have been conducted on the recovered weapon and the team is seeking to determine whether it was involved in other criminal activities by verifying through the Attorney General’s Office’s SUCOBA missionary system. Additionally, an atomic absorption test (ASS) was performed on the apprehended minor.
Likewise, the technical analysis of nearly 1,000 collected videos and under chain of custody videos is moving forward. Experts are examining previous moments of the attack to establish the routes of the alleged perpetrator and those of the victim in order to determine possible follow-ups.
As part of the investigative activities, two search warrants were conducted, in addition to 23 interviews of people who were at the scene and two relatives of the apprehended teenager.
Regarding the prosecution of the minor, a prosecutor from the Unit for Adolescent Criminal Responsibility (URPA in spanish) validated the arrest before a judge, and a hearing is pending to charge him with attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearms. Likewise, a preventive detention measure in a specialized center will be requested.
The Attorney General stated that protection measures are being provided for the minor and his close relatives.
