At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge ordered a prison sentence against Fabián Alexis Arias Mira, the person allegedly responsible for holding his father, grandmother, and two siblings, prisoners.
A prosecutor appointed to a branch office in Medellín (Seccional Medellin) charged him with aggravated kidnapping and domestic violence. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.
According to the investigation, between March 1 and 5, 2025, in a home in Bello (Antioquia), Arias Mira allegedly shut his family members, including his 86-year-old grandmother and one of his disabled brothers.
The defendant allegedly beat and intimidated his grandmother with a sharp weapon, preventing the other family members from helping her. He also allegedly threatened them with death by telling them he was a member of a local criminal group.
The 26-year-old defendant was arrested by National Police officers on a public street in Zamora neighborhood of Bello (Antioquia).
