At the request of a prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Organizations, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Carlos Arturo Castro Plaza, alias Franco, a member of the Urabá Central substructure of the ‘Clan del Golfo ‘.
This person allegedly participated in the attack against a police car last June in Coldesa sector, between the areas of El Tres and Currulao in Turbo (Antioquia). In the violent action, the patrol officer Duvian Alberto Blanco García died.
Likewise, it was possible to establish that alias Franco would be a ringleader in the Urabá region of Antioquia, and one of the coordinators of selective homicides, land dispossession and extortion of merchants and transporters.
Castro Plaza was arrested in a joint operation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Police and the Army in the rural area of the Currulao district in Turbo (Antioquia).
In the proceedings, a 38 caliber revolver with six cartridges was seized. In this sense, the Prosecutor’s Office charged him with conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes and manufacturing, trafficking, and possession of weapons, restricted-use ammunition, for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or explosives. The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges.
