The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Jesús Daniel Gaviria Herrera for his alleged participation in the murder of the National Police subintendant, Francisco Javier Bertel Pérez, in facts that took place in Cartagena (Bolívar).

A prosecutor appointed to the so-called Unidad de Vida charged this person with homicide; and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of firearms (both aggravated behaviors). They did not plead guilty to the charges and a judge sentenced them to prison.

The facts took place on February 7th, when the victim was shot to death, while he was driving his vehicle through El Bosque avenue. The alleged hitman fled on a motorcycle that was waiting for him, apparently driven by Gaviria Herrera.

Hours later, the investigative work led to the location of the burned motorcycle in a wooded area of ​​the Henequén neighborhood.

Gaviria Herrera was arrested by the National Police in compliance with a court order.
