The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted 12 alleged members of a criminal group called Los Vegetos, who would be involved in the trafficking of firearms and narcotics from Ocaña (Norte de Santander) to different areas in Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Santander.

In this regard, a prosecutor charged them with conspiracy to commit a crime; manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; and trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics.

The suspects were arrested by officers of the National Police as a result of home searches carried out in Ocaña and one in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).

A judge imposed a prison sentence on Mairon Sánchez Pimentel, Rafael Antonio Jaime Lemus, Alber Fabián Polanco Sarabia, Darwin Ortiz Rangel and Andrey Toro Rivera. 

Meanwhile, Maribel Páez Guerrero, Andreina Amaya Navarro, Jairo Jaime Lemus, Marlene Escalante Uribe, Carlos Jorge Cañizares, José del Carmen Bayona and Duvan Felipe Campos Coronel must serve house arrest.
