After approving the arguments of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Estiven Oswaldo Valcarcel Cabezas, for his alleged responsibility in the extortion of a merchant in Arauca.
In this sense, a prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Arauca (Seccional Arauca) charged him with aggravated extortion (attempt). He did not plead guilty to the charges.
The man was arrested in flagranti on January 22 in the urban area of Arauca (Arauca) when he tried to collect 2 million COP derived from an extortion of the merchant.
During the investigation, the Attorney General’s Office found that in December and January of this year, the defendant had pretended to be a member of an illegal armed group to demand money from the victim in exchange for not attempting against his life or that of his family.
