This is about alias Chino, one of the alleged members of the self-identified  ‘Comandos de la Frontera’ of FARC dissidents.

Threats against the civilian population, armed confrontations with other criminal organizations for control of drug trafficking activities and selective homicides in several municipalities of Caquetá are some of the violent actions that Jhon Fernando Méndez, alias Chino, allegedly ordered as leader of the self-identified ‘Commandos de Frontera’ of FARC dissidents.

In this sense, a prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations brought him before a judge and charged him with aggravated conspiracy to commit homicide and drug trafficking.

The defendant did not plead guilty to charges and must serve a prison sentence.

According to the evidence, alias Chino would be in charge of a structure of approximately 30 armed men, who would be responsible for intimidating residents and merchants from Curillo, Albania, San José del Fragua, Belén de los Andaquíes, Morelia and Florencia (Caquetá); and for coordinating different illegal incomes in the region.

This person was arrested thanks to a joint work of the Office of the Attorney General and the National Police near the market in Florencia (Caquetá).

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
