The High Court of Bogotá sentenced Judge of the Circuit of Lorica, Isabel Loreley Del Socorro Montes Oyola, to 27 years and 11 months in prison for the so-called case ‘Carrusel de la Educación’ in Córdoba, in which dozens of teachers benefited from irregular pension payments without complying with the requirements of the law and amounting at least $80.000 million pesos.

The high court approved the request made by a prosecutor of the Special Directorate against Corruption who found her responsible for 35 crimes of breach of duty, active bribery and 12 crimes of aggravated misappropriation in favor of third parties.

The penalty was 335 months in prison, 20 years disbarred from the practice of law and public functions and a fine of 50,000 legal minimum wages. The decision orders that the former public servant be held in a prison determined by INPEC.
