The victim’s corpse was found in her apartment with multiple wounds.
The evidence obtained by a prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI) allowed to establish that Diego Alexander Becerra Rave would be the alleged person responsible for the murder of LGBTIQ+ activist Karis Saldarriaga, which took place on October 20, 2024, in a building in Caldas (Antioquia).
In this sense, he was brought before a judge and charged with the crime of aggravated homicide. He did not plead guilty to the charges, and a judge imposed a prison sentence.
During the investigation, it was found that the man was spending time with the victim, and apparently he had an argument with her. In the middle of the dispute, he allegedly reacted violently and attacked her with a knife, causing her death.
The corpse of the LGBTIQ+ leader was found by the National Police in the apartment where she lived, after being alerted by the community about loud noises in the place.
