The facts allegedly took place due to a debt that the victim had with one of the investigated individuals
At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Nelson Adriano Echeverry Ceballos and his sentimental partner, Yeni Marcela Baquero Echeverry, for their alleged participation in the death of a teacher on August 1, 2023 in Corinto (Cauca).
The evidence shows that the victim was shot several times, causing his death. Judicial police work allowed the recovery of the victim’s cell phone, in which they found phone calls made by his sister Yeni Marcela Baquero and his brother-in-law Echeverry Ceballos. These phones would have been in the place where the teacher’s crime took place.
In addition, it was established that the couple allegedly made money withdrawals from a bank in Floridablanca (Valle del Cauca) by using the victim’s card.
The crime of the teacher would have been taken place due to a debt he had with his brother-in-law. A bill of exchange was also found at the scene of the murder.
Therefore, a sectional prosecutor charged them with aggravated homicide. They did not plead guilty.
These people were arrested by the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI), Sijín of the Police and the Army, in a house located at Villa del Rosario neighborhood and a commercial establishment downtown Corinto.
