At the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Granada (Meta), a man identified as Cristian Alfonso Gómez Buitrago, alias Matías, was sent to prison for defrauding and extorting two farmers in Guaviare between 2021 and 2022
According to an investigation, the arrested man claimed to be a lawyer and through deceit managed to get the victims to give him money that amounted to $36,000,000 COP, to supposedly pay for an insurance that would include them in a National Government program.
On August 3, Gómez Buitrago was arrested in flagrante delicto, who threatened the victims by demanding $15,000,000 COP.
The arrest was carried out on a public road in San José del Guaviare (Guaviare), by members of the Gaula National Police.
The Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against the detainee, and he did not plead guilty.
