A prosecutor appointed to the so-called Unidad de Vida (Life Unit) of the Sectional Office in Bolívar prosecuted, in separate proceedings, two men who allegedly participated in homicides that occurred in Cartagena. The Office of the Attorney General charged the defendants, according to their individual responsibilities, with homicide, qualified theft and manufacture, trafficking or possession of a firearm, all aggravated. None pleaded guilty to the charges.

The first case is related to Luis David Torres López, alias El Mazamorra, who on September 26, during a fight in Olaya Herrera neighborhood, allegedly shot a firearm, wounding a 34-year-old man. The community who noticed what happened handed him over to the National Police. The victim was taken to a medical center, where he died due to the severity of his injuries.

In another incident, Erick Ahumedo Herrera, 24, was prosecuted. On October 27, during an attempted robbery, he allegedly shot a man who was riding a motorcycle in Los Girasoles neighborhood. The defendant was arrested by the National Police and the weapon, allegedly used for the commission of the offense, was found in his possession. The alleged aggressor’s motorcycle and documents that were allegedly stolen were seized. Ahumedo Herrera was transferred to the San Sebastián Ternera prison in the capital of Bolívar.
