Jostin Santiago Zapata Rueda freely and spontaneously accepted his responsibility for the crime of aggravated homicide with attempt, charged by a prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Huila.
The preliminary agreement signed between the defendant, advised by his defense attorney, and the Attorney General’s Office was approved by a court in Neiva that imposed a 20-year prison sentence against Zapata Rueda, involved in the murder of an 18-year-old young man, which took place in Brisas del Venado, north area of Huila.
The Office of the Attorney General demonstrated that on January 16, 2023, the convicted man reached a stream located in the aforementioned place. The victim was at the scene with another person and were shot by the convicted man. One of them died, and the other one was taken to a hospital where they managed to save his life.
Currently, Zapata Rueda is deprived of liberty in the Las Heliconias penitentiary center in Florencia (Caquetá).
The sentence is of first instance and an appeal can be lodged.
