At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Arturo Javier Guete Mercado and William Ricardo Martínez García, as alleged perpetrators of aggravated extortion.

The facts investigated took place on September 8, on a farm located in the rural area Los Tupes in ​​San Diego (Cesar) where Guete Mercado and Martínez García received an envelope, allegedly related to the payment of an extortion of which the owner of a farm was the victim.

According to the investigation, the defendants were supposed to collect 12 million pesos that they demanded from the victim in order not to attempt against his life and his family. The men pretended to be members of the so-called ‘Clan del Golfo’.

During the procedure, cell phones and two motorcycles were seized. The arrest of the people involved was carried out by Gaula of Army and the National Police.
