Mateo Tavera Pineda participated in monitoring the victims to alert about their movements and places they frequented.
The Attorney General’s Office demonstrated in an oral trial that Mateo Tavera Pineda would be involved in an attack with hitmen in which three people died, on January 28, 2023, in Guayacanes neighborhood, in Ciudad Bolívar (Antioquia). In this sense, a judge sentenced him to 41 years in prison for aggravated homicide, and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms or ammunition.
The evidence indicates that the convicted man contacted and transported a Venezuelan citizen who watched and followed the victims to alert about all their movements and indicate the exact moment to attack them. With that information, armed men entered a commercial establishment and shot them, causing their death.
Recently, Tavera Pineda was prosecuted as the alleged person responsible for the murder of three people on February 14, 2023 on a farm in the Buenavista area, in Ciudad Bolívar (Antioquia). For this case, a prosecutor from the Dirección de Apoyo Territorial (Territorial Support Directorate) charged him with aggravated homicide, aggravated criminal conspiracy; and manufacture, trafficking or possession of weapons, ammunition for restricted use, for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or explosives. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
This sentence is of first instance.
