The Office the Attorney General acts with determination and is implacable with those who ignore the measures ordered by the health authorities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In three days, the Office of the Attorney General has intervened in nine cases. Eight investigations have been for violation of sanitary measures. Two cases resulted in home detention, two are pending trial, and three of them are under investigation. The ninth case is related to the spread of the pandemic.

Regarding the mayor of Popayán, Juan Carlos López Castrillón, who tested positive for coronavirus, the Office of the Attorney General is verifying whether he violated the sanitary measures (article 368 Criminal Code) and if he committed false statement (article 286 Criminal Code) by omitting information in the protocol of the Presidency about his stay in other countries during the last 14 days.
