The Attorney General’s Office, through a prosecutor from the Territorial Support Directorate, brought new charges against the Colombian-Venezuelan citizen José Leonardo Quevedo Turizo, allegedly involved in the murder of a member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
Judicial police work showed that the crime took place on March 11, 2023. The victim’s family reported his disappearance and two days later the corpse was found in his apartment, in Chapinero.
According to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, the man was found with signs of strangulation.
According to testimonies that were collected during the investigation, there is an alleged relationship between the victim and the alleged aggressor. It was also established that, after the incident occurred, Quevedo Turizo stole the victim’s vehicle and escaped in it.
The Office of the Attorney General charged José Leonardo Quevedo Turizo for the alleged commission of aggravated homicide and qualified theft. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
The judge who heard the case approved the request made by the Office of the Attorney General regarding the need for a detention measure in prison for the defendant.
Two other victims
Quevedo Turizo is currently facing another criminal process in which the Attorney General’s Office found him allegedly responsible for a double homicide in which the victims were also part of the LGBTQ+ community. He has been deprived of his liberty since May 16, 2023 when he was arrested by the National Police.
