The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted eight alleged members of the criminal group Los Españoles, involved in thefts in different ways, in the municipality of Pitalito (Huila).
Judicial police work revealed that the crimes had been committed since November 2023 in a neighborhood known as El Popular and its surrounding areas. They allegedly used sharp weapons and firearms; in addition to instrumentalizing minors who were entrusted with victimizing public service drivers.
Among the prosecuted people are: Nardy Yulieth Ríos Gaviria and Héctor Alexis Motta Campos, who were charged by the Prosecutor’s Office with conspiracy to commit crimes, qualified and aggravated theft, and use of minors in the commission of crimes. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
Besides Gaviria and Motta Campos, six minors were brought before justice for the crimes of conspiracy to commit crimes, manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms, and qualified and aggravated theft. They pleaded guilty to the charges.
Both adults must serve a prison sentence; while the adolescents were sent to a juvenile detention center.
