The defendants would be involved in homicides that occurred due to territorial control in Bogotá and Boyacá.
The Attorney General’s Office brought 14 alleged drug dealers in the San Cayetano neighborhood in Suba, in Bogotá; and Moniquirá neighborhood in Boyacá before justice. They allegedly exercised the territorial control through the use of firearms.
The people involved are: Karen Viviana Mejía Cruz, Cristian Bernardo Leiva Muñoz, Kevin Daniel Ortiz González, Esquid Gonzalo Ortiz Gómez, Fabián Andrés Roa Urquijo, Paola Andrea Roa Urquijo, Magola Andrea Gavilanes Calpa, Brayan Steven Cagua González, Leidy Juanita Daza Ramírez, Ingrid Nataly Cruz Sánchez, Nicolás Darío Parra López, Daniel Steven Varela Sarmiento, Nelson Fernando Peña Peña and Camilo Andrés Leiva Muñoz who would fulfill a specific role within the organization from guard, known as ‘campanero’, to distributor.
According to the investigation, the defendants allegedly sold illegal substances on public roads where clients of all ages came. In Moniquirá, they allegedly murdered a citizen who allegedly refused to pay the criminal organization some money he owed it.
A prosecutor belonging to the so-called Estructura de Apoyo- EDA (Support Office) charged them with homicide, conspiracy to commit a crime; manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition and; trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotic substances, all aggravated. The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges.
A judge imposed a prison sentence on 13 of the defendants, and house arrest on the another one. In the latter case, it was a pregnant woman.
