A judge imposed a prison sentence against two alleged members of the FARC dissidents who committed crimes in Planadas (Tolima). This is about Luis Miguel Ramírez Mejía, alias Dago; and Anyi Lorena Áviles Machado, alias La Diabla, who would be responsible for extorting residents of the south area of the department.

These people were arrested by Gaula Police and National Army in Villavicencio (Meta) and the rural area of ​​Planadas (Tolima), respectively.

According to the investigation, the defendants carried out illegal economic demands since July 1, 2022. The amounts would be around 100 million COP, and it would be the only way to prevent them, their families and their collaborators from being murdered.

‘Dago’ and ‘La Diabla’ allegedly used pamphlets to meet drivers and coffee growers near El Silencio rural area where they would be approached by people wearing military clothing with long-range firearms. The criminal organization burned vehicles and graffitied to generate panic and anxiety among the inhabitants of Planadas and its surroundings.

According to information in the Office of the Attorney General´s possession,  alias Dago showed up at stores and homes, while ‘La Diabla’ delivered the pamphlets in addition to taking the victims to the places where the extortions would take place.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged the defendants with criminal conspiracy for extortion purposes and extortion, both aggravated. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
