At the request of a delegate prosecutor in Gaula Cartagena allowed a judge to impose a prison sentence on Luis David Alvis López, alias El Chino, who allegedly participated in the extortion of a local merchant.
The facts took place on June 19 when the victim, 24 years old, received calls demanding 5 million COP in exchange for not threatening his life or that of his family.
Alvis López was arrested in flagrante delicto by the National Police after he allegedly collected the money demanded from the commercial establishment in Bicentenario neighborhood.
The defendant was found in possession of banknotes that were previously handed over by the victim. The operation allowed the seizure of a motorcycle allegedly used by the extortionist.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged the man with attempted aggravated extortion. He did not plead guilty to the charges. He will be sent to San Sebastián Ternera prison in Cartagena.
