The defendants would be those who demanded the money from cattle breeders, rice growers, contractors of public works and the transportation sector, among others.

At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, a judge imposed a prison sentence  on six alleged extortionists who would be part of Javier Yepes Cantero substructure of ‘Clan del Golfo’.

The decision is related to Andrea Sarain Pérez Ortega, alias Kataleya; Usiel Abisai Jaimes Morales, alias Víctor or Carlos; Cristian Antonio Guerra Vega, alias Negro or Cristian; Jefri Enrique Otero Bula, alias Bula and John Hernán Oquendo Soto who were charged with criminal conspiracy with aggravated extortion purposes.

The facts under investigation took place since November 2019 where the suspects allegedly demanded money from cattle breeders, rice growers, companies contracting public works, the transportation sector and even from citizens who were involved in street fights. In addition, they would be involved in the incineration of a vehicle belonging to a contracting company in January of the current year.

These actions were carried out in Sahagún, Chinú, San Andrés de Sotavento, Tuchín and Chimá in Córdoba.

The arrests were carried out by National Police on May 25 in Sahagún, San Antero, Punta Yáñez and Ciénaga de Oro (Córdoba) during home searches.

In the operations, cell phones and documents about intelligence and financial activities of criminal organizations were also seized.

On the other hand, Leonis Miguel Tordecilla Cogollo, alias Ronaldo or Leo, was arrested on June 7th in Tierralta (Córdoba) for his alleged participation in the criminal organization as collector of extortions and observer.

Alias Ronaldo or Leo had an arrest warrant for aggravated criminal conspiracy for extortion purposes and would be responsible for the extortions carried out against a renowned company of sodas in Tierralta (Córdoba), on November 27 of the previous year. A judge sent him to prison.
