The investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office related to the death of senior citizens in Risaralda allowed us to establish that brothers José David, Juan Carlos and José Alfredo Villa Cardona were behind a series of homicides against this population.

The conclusive evidence provided by a prosecutor from Grupo de Homicidios Colectivos (Collective Homicide Group) from Dirección de Apoyo Territorial (Territorial Support Directorate) was decisive to prosecute José David Villa Cardona, allegedly involved in the homicide of a 66-year-old man in facts that took place on September 21, 2023.

Judicial police work made it possible to establish that the accused agreed with his brother Juan Carlos Villa Cardona to commit the homicide on a farm located in the rural area of ​​Dosquebradas (Risaralda).

The physical evidence demonstrates that José David Villa Cardona was allegedly in charge of monitoring the victim, so that his brother Juan Carlos would attack the victim with a sharp weapon and subsequently be able to take valuable objects from the property.

Prior to the attack, Juan Carlos pretended to be a person in need to gain the trust of the senior citizen and gain access to his home.

For these facts, José David Villa Cardona was charged with aggravated homicide. He is currently serving a sentence of more than 4 years in prison for criminal conspiracy, in a sentence that was issued last February.

For this crime and other 9 homicides in which the victims were also senior citizens, Juan Carlos Villa Cardona was sentenced to 45 years and 5 months in prison.

For his part, José Alfredo Villa Cardona, also José David´s and Juan Carlos´ brother was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office for his alleged participation in 5 homicides of senior citizens under this same modality and he is in prison.
