The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted three alleged members of the criminal gang Los Tobarba, who would be involved in the murder of two men in Mercaderes (Cauca).
According to the investigation, this criminal network committed crimes in the municipalities of El Bordo and Patía. It was allegedly involved in homicides and drug trafficking activities and it would be also responsible for the murder of two citizens on January 21 and April 3, 2024 in Mercaderes.
The facts took place in a confrontation between criminal groups that were fighting for control of drug trafficking routes in southeastern Cauca.
One of the victims was transferred to a hospital in the municipality of La Unión (Nariño), where he died. Firearms were used in the attack.
During four home searches that were ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office, Sijín- National Police arrested Sergio Alejandro Fajardo Díaz, Dayan David Martínez Martínez and Abel Alexander Martínez Solarte, alias Abel.
In the same proceedings, the authorities seized narcotics, a gun, binoculars and cell phones.
A prosecutor from the Sectional Office in Cauca charged them with homicide, trafficking and possession of firearms for private use or explosives in facts that took place in the municipality of Mercaderes (Cauca). They did not plead guilty to charges.
A judge imposed a prison sentence against the three defendants.
