The defendant was allegedly involved in a shootout with the authorities when the arrest was taking place.

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Junior Castillo Correa, allegedly involved in a homicide that occurred in the municipality of Obando (Valle del Cauca).

The defendant was arrested by the National Police on May 12th in a medical center where he was recovering from several injuries.

According to the investigation, Castillo Correa apparently attacked a man with a firearm on January 27th when the victim was in a restaurant located in Santander neighborhood. The prompt medical attention prevented the person from dying.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged the arrested person with aggravated homicide and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of firearms or ammunition.
