In an offensive against crimes that affect public safety, a judge imposed preventive detention measures in prison against four men who would be involved in thefts in the municipality of Garzón (Huila).
- One of the cases took place on April 3 of this year in the El Centro neighborhood where Evelio Hoyos Cárdenas was arrested by the National Police. During the operations, a box with merchandise valued at one million pesos that he had stolen from a merchant was seized from the man.
- On April 16, 2024, in El Limonar neighborhood, Yeferson Sánchez Díaz apparently stole one million pesos from a man who had pawned a motorcycle. During the arrest, a knife, a motorcycle and a short blunt weapon were confiscated.
- Meanwhile, Jailer Plazas Hernández was prosecuted after he apparently stole a motorcycle. Facts took place in August 2023 on the road that connects La Jagua with the municipality of Garzón (Huila). It is believed that Plazas Hernández tried to attack the victim with a sharp weapon to commit the theft.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged these three people with aggravated theft. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
- Finally, the Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted Yeferson Andrés Cadena Gutiérrez, allegedly involved in the theft of a high-end cell phones. These facts took place in July 2023 in El Centro neighborhood. The Prosecutor’s Office charged him with aggravated robbery. He pleaded guilty.
