A specialized prosecutor assigned to Gaula of the Sectional office in Tolima prosecuted two men and a woman, allegedly responsible for the kidnapping of three people. The victims were summoned by the defendants to carry out a fraudulent sale of a property in El Espinal (Tolima) on November 28, 2019.

According to the investigation, three merchants from Meta arrived that day in that municipality to close the deal for 100 million COP but once they were taken by a woman to the alleged property, they were surprised by three armed men who demanded all the money.

Since the victims only had 30 million COP, two of them were held while the other returned for the remaining amount to the hotel where they were staying. They were later released and they escaped.

As a result of search warrants carried out in El Espinal and Bogotá, Diana Katerine Rivera Rincón and her cousins Isidro and José Luis Díaz Calderón were arrested.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged them with aggravated kidnapping with extortion, aggravated robbery and the illegal manufacture, trafficking or possession of firearms, parts or ammunition. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

A judge imposed a prison sentence.

It is worth highlighting that cousins Díaz Calderón have criminal records for illegal possession of firearms and drug trafficking.
