Facts took place on May 1, during a theft that occurred in Laureles neighborhood.

Due to the conclusive evidence collected by the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Jhon Steven Cuervo Olarte, one of those allegedly involved in the murder of the Police officer Juan Esteban Cortés Pérez, which occurred on May 1, in the Laureles neighborhood in Medellín (Antioquia).

This person was allegedly part of the armed group that entered the home of an engineer and robbed him 17 million COP in cash and jewelry.

Two members of the surveillance arrived at the site to handle the situation and were attacked with firearms by the aforementioned criminals who were wearing judicial police clothing. In an exchange of shots, one of the men died and two of the robbers were injured. One of them died a few hours later in a medical center.

Videos from security cameras and other evidence obtained indicate that Cuervo Olarte, 27, participated in the robbery and the subsequent escape of some of the alleged perpetrators.

In that sense, a prosecutor from the so-called Unidad de Alertas Tempranas de Homicidio of the Sectional Office in Medellín charged him with aggravated homicide and robbery; manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms for personal use; and manufacture, trafficking, possession of weapons and ammunition for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces.

They did not plead guilty to the charges.
