The Prosecutor’s Office asked the Interpol the issuance of a blue notice and managed to locate the person in Guayaquil (Ecuador) from where he was extradited to Colombia.
The Attorney General’s Office achieved the issuance of a preventive detention measure in prison against Henry Carreño, 52, for being the alleged responsible for the death of his sentimental partner. The facts occurred in the Santa Cruz neighborhood in Medellín (Antioquia).
According to the investigation, on May 12, 2021, the defendant apparently attacked the 47-year-old woman with a knife and then fled the scene in the vehicle that she owned, taking jewelry and cash with him. The car was found several hours later in a parking lot in the terminal of the north area of Medellín.
The evidence determined that Carreño was contacted by the woman’s family to allow them to speak with her, but he always found an excuse. The investigators showed that after the crime was committed, the alleged perpetrator fled to Bogotá. Since then, her whereabouts are unknown.
According to information, this person would be in Ecuador therefore, the issuance of a blue notice was requested. This action that was carried out by the Office of the Attorney General allowed the location of the defendant in Guayaquil, and his subsequent extradition to Colombia on April 11th. Upon his arrival at the country, he was placed at the disposal of a prosecutor assigned the so-called Unidad de Vida of the Sectional Office in Medellín who charged him with aggravated feminicide and theft.
The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges and after the preliminary hearings, he was taken to care center due to health problems.
