At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge ordered house arrest against Edwin Andrés Vaca Rojas, a lawyer who was allegedly extorting the mayor of San José del Guaviare (Guaviare), Willy Alejandro Rodríguez Rojas.
According to the investigation, since last February 5, the detainee began to ask the governor for 800 million pesos to avoid publishing alleged information that would be in possession of the Prosecutor’s Office due to his alleged participation in illegal housing developments.
After receiving the money by the victim, Vaca Rojas was arrested flagrante delicto on a public road in the Bicentenario neighborhood by members of Gaula- National Police.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged the lawyer with attempted and aggravated extortion. He did not plead guilty.
