The Attorney General’s Office, in compliance with the commitment made by the Interim Attorney General, Martha Janeth Mancera to counteract crimes that affect public safety, achieved the prosecution of a man accused of attempted murder against a 20-year-old young man on September 1, 2022 in Ibagué, Tolima.
Leonardo García Ríos, 35 years old, is known by the alias ‘Tuercas’, who was arrested by National Police by virtue of the court order due to the investigation carried out by an office of the so-called Unidad de Vida in the Sectional Office in Tolima.
The facts occurred in the La Gaviota neighborhood in Tolima, where the accused allegedly injured Andrés Felipe Méndez Olaya with a knife in different parts of the body. He was transferred to a healthcare center where he managed to survive
During the hearings he did not plead guilty to the charges brought by the prosecutor and he was sent to prison.
It should be noted that ‘Tuercas’ has records for the crime of firearms possession and drug trafficking.
The motives for the attack are under investigation by the prosecutor´s office.
