In aisolated cases, the Office of the Attorney General achieved guilty verdicts against 16 men and 2 women between five and three years in prison for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics. The sentences were obtained through a pre-agreement between the defense and the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigations and the evidence, the defendants were linked to the distribution and commercialization of narcotics in small doses and home delivery, affecting school environments, parks and sports fields.
The events took place between 2019 and 2021, in neighborhoods of San Miguel, Cundinamarca, Gaitan, Virgilio Barco in the city of Cúcuta and the municipality of El Zulia (Norte de Santander).
The convicted people were arrested between March and August 2021 in operations carried out by the National Police through undercover agent and controlled purchases. It should be noted that five of those convicted, were part of the Los Maras criminal group dismantled in July 2021.
Therefore, the convicted people will remain in prison until completion of the sentence.
