The Office of the Attorney General brought before justice an alleged member of the organized armed group ELN, operating in the department of Norte de Santander.
The Office of the Attorney General charged Fray Alexander Figueroa Delgado with the crime of attempted extortion.
The facts occurred on March 1, when the defendant, through phone calls and text messages, demanded the sum of six million pesos from a teacher from Cúcuta, in exchange for not attempting his life. Since the victim did not comply with the first payment on the agreed date, it increased to 10 million pesos.
The individual was arrested in flagrante delicto on March 6 by Gaula-National Police when he apparently received the money from the extortion in the Villas del Rodeo neighborhood of this city.
In preliminary hearings, the person investigated did not accept his responsibility and was sent to prison in Norte de Santander.
